The World Rugby Championship 1991

The Rugby World Cup in 1991 was the first World Cup in Europe, and the organizers were participants of the Five Nations Championship (today plus Italy): England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and France. For the first time, qualifications were played. Quarter-finals with SP 1987 achieved direct placement, while 25 teams played squads to reach the eight teams that will qualify for the championship.

In this tournament, the scoring method has changed, so the three points have won for victory, two for the draw and one for defeat. The championship was opened by the defending champion New Zealand and one of England's hosts, while the game played at Twickenham in front of some 70,000 spectators. New Zealanders lost at halftime, and then reversed below and came to victory from 18:12. Both teams eventually finished in the quarter-finals.

In the group stage, the surprise was made by West Samoa, which beat the third team from the previous championship, the Welsh team, with 16:13 and eliminated them from the competition. It is worth mentioning the good result of Canada, which finished second in its group and went to the quarter-finals, but against New Zealand, of course, she could not. The disqualification of the World Championship was Fiji's team, which ended in the group stage with all three defeats.

They were first defeated by Canada with 13: 9, then from France with 33: 9 and finally from Romania 17:15. In the quarter-finals, New Zealand and Scotland achieved the expected victories. New Zealand won Canada 29:13, while Scotland was better than Western Samoa with 28: 6. In the quarter-final, two derbies were also played.

England won the match at the previous World Cup, France, with a score of 19:18, while Australia defeated Ireland in a dramatic match with 19:18. In the semifinals, two very interesting matches were played. In the game without laying England defeated Scotland with 9: 6, and to victory came a drop-kick shot in the last attack. Australia defeated defenders of the All Blacks title with 16: 6. In the grand finale held at Twickenham, Australia beat England with 12: 6 thanks to try out Daly in the first half.
